Family update 2008–09

Okay, let’s make this official. I’m going “Greener.” I know, many of you are headed that way too –– with our mutual concern for sustainability. I do need to make one distinction though. That’s Greener with a capital “G.”
Last fall, Aaron became a Greener, a student at Evergreen State College. (See what the “Seattle Times” says about Evergreen.) Well, while it doesn’t supersede
ties to my alma mater, the University of Washington, I do have to adjust my loyalties a bit here.
I was very fortunate to take time off to help Aaron make this big decision. We toured Humboldt State University, Lewis and Clark, Willamette and Reed. Although he knew studying theoretical mathematics was his path, evaluating the choices was onerous for Aaron. The process was gratifying to watch. As a parent, you strive to prepare your children to make life-charting choices. In the end, he examined and truly picked the college that best fit his learning style and ideology.
All and all, we have been very fortunate. The kids are health, happy and doing well at school. Kathy and I continue to volunteer at the school (I help with the 5th grade high math class). Kathy is building a public relations business.
My opportunity to work for Apple, then build Gold Country Tech Group from the ground up have been great experiences for me. I’m looking forward to using all I’ve gained––sales, management and customer service knowledge––in my next venture. I’ll be sure to update you. In the mean time, send me a link and let me know what’s new in your world.
    All the best,
    Arne
